Google Webmaster Centrals latest blog post may strike fear into the hearts of all the 'black-hat' SE O's around the globe. Fortunately, I'm not one of these people. If I was, should I be threatened?
Personally I am an advocate for sustainable strategy in e-commerce. My theory is that Google tell us little enough as it is to go ahead and dis-regard the minimal pointers that they do give us .Googles Web Master Discussion Board has been great in recent times as a reliable resource for first hand advice directly from the horse's mouth'.
What I would really love to know (like big time) is the answer to this question:
When Google do decide to stamp out 'black-hat' or spammy type activity, what is the final determining factor in their decision to dish out the ultimate Google-Fine and remove a site from the SERPS?
The thing is that even Google don't have enough people power to stamp out all the irrelevant spam in their directory. If they did have the resources they would be doing it, wouldn't they? Some of my American counterparts would want to check me at this point and remind me of the BMW or webmaster world cloaking sagas.
My point is that down here in little old NZ I have not met anyone in 5 years in the industry who has been "expelled" from the Google Search results. I'm sure there has been some. But I know for a fact that spam is the difference between winning and losing on line in some of New Zealand's larger on line industries. And frankly it feels as though New Zealand as a nation of people is not using enough band-width on the Internet to register as a threat to Googles 'spammer high alerts' , let alone the businesses within the New Zealand e-commerce and e-business community.
This is very frustrating to those of us that abide by the Google unwritten laws'. The relative damage by spammers within the Google.co.nz SERPS is probably much the same (I cant prove this so please don't quote me!) as the good ol' USA. Yet no discipline from the big G?
C'mon Larry and Sergey. Don't count out a kiwi. Our spammers need some discipline as well please!
