Now this is interesting.....I have managed to un-earth a few statistics that reveal some of the demographical trends within the new social networking equivalent of Optimus Prime. Hard core web 2.0 marketers can definitely look forward to what is rapidly becoming a true channel in the form of facebook.com. My recent post about facebook reaching that crucial "tipping point" seems to have been the understatement of my blogging calendar thus far in 2007.
For those who are interested read on for some key marketing data should facebook be in your future strategy (and believe me, it should!)....
- The largest segment area appears in the 35+ age.
- The 25-34 age group (my range) has the highest percentage growth. No surprises here, most people I know are moving to Facebook
- The average time spend on site per month is 130-200 minutes per user. that’s 2-3 hours
Word is that fb is going to be bigger than myspace by the end of the year! 600 million searches + per month puts fb in the top 20 search engines globally. These numbers have raised suspicions as to whether FB should actually develop their own dedicated search engine.
I am begining to wonder whether I should blog about any other topics. facebook.com is on fire!
