This is a tribute to the most famous and cherished kiwi Sir Edmund Hillary who died today at the age of 88. Sir Ed touched the hearts of human beings on a global basis when he became the first person to reach the summit of the Worlds highest peak, Mount Everest.
He was also the most famous old boy of my high school Auckland Grammar. I used to walk past his picture mounted on the wall of our great hall everyday on my way to assembly.
A sad day for all kiwis as our one of our greatest (if not the greatest) passes on.
