The last few weeks have involved some major changes for me moving into my new role as Senior Account Director at Tribal DDB New Zealand. Changing jobs disrupts one's life in many ways, and at the top of this list for me (the classic geek) is the shift from one mobile handset to another.
I was very fortunate to be provided with an iPhone in my last role. It was not much fun saying goodbye to what turned out to be the most impressive hand held device I had ever used.
So, it has been bye bye iPhone and hello to my shiny new red Blackberry 8100. I am not going to even try to start comparing these two devices. That would be like comparing apples with blackberries.....
All jokes aside, the Blackberry 8100 does have some features that I conveniently ignored during my days as an iPhone user. The most significant is definitely size. This little phone is........noticeably littler than my iPhone. It has a little hook through thingy on the back which allows me to connect a laniard (stolen from my digital camera).
The later two features combine to provide me with a benefit that the iPhone simply could not provide. I can secure the laniard on the phone to the belt loop on my jeans with the smaller phone fitting snuggly in my front pocket, thus ensuring my phone is not dropped or left in some cab as I sit down (and the phone slides out in-discretely.
Accessories for my new device seem a bit thin on the ground to be honest.......nothing on the numerous iPhone tag ons that continue to be churned out.
Shortly, my cnew crackberry will be connected to the DDB blackberry server and I will be able to comment a little bit more about the performance of what is still considered to the be the true pedigree of all PDA's.....more to come after easter.

Nothing and I mean nothing can hide your disappointment and despair at being relieved of the iphone. RIP Lil Apple
